I think it’s showing that there are many weird “things” blending in with humans. The classmate, his mother, the forensics dude etc . I could be way off though.

@barryallen0 The criminal stabbed the officer twice as he was wondering how he's still chasing after him, and at the end of the chapter, you can see that the criminal's knife was bent. I think the author's hinting us that the officer also is special just like our mc.
