I have no idea why after seeing the value of mobile phones (god only knows why) he hasn’t even tried to see what’s going on with his own.

He’s not just an annoying coward lol, he’s not very bright either.

That said I guess he’s meant to symbolise the downtrodden, he’s been put down so much he struggles to get up. That’s why his earth ‘friends’ are unimaginable assholes

not to mention how out of his league all this is, the fact that he still goes along with this is admirable, if futile for now
and characters are supposed to have flaws, if they don't then they have no reason to overcome themselves and be a better person,
like the asshole friend
it makes sense what the author is going for

I understand this point, but I think the bigger problem is that he is unrelatable, cowardly and ineffective/relying on others to carry him too much. The MC feels like S1 Deku, cowardly, but is lacking the brains that made Deku an interesting & effective character (the boy throughs away the cellphone.) I guess that because MC are usually suppose to be audience inserts the people get pissed off when the MC does something unreasonably dumb. Its only in situations this extreme do i relate to him.

P.S. Cali's "Lv.100 Excalibur Mode" being inconsistent is my biggest problem.
