Please add Yandere as a theme ?

No one’s going to inspect every title snd check if it has yandere or not. It’ll simply be another available tag to add.

As acs87 said, no.... inspecting 26k+ titles is not something anyone will do nor something we should expect to ever happen.
It simply becomes an option, just like all the other tags are. And, just like all the other tags, kind users with edit perms will update the tags of the titles they read.

Attempts by one person to check every title would either be shallow (only a few pages from a few ch checked to match the tag), or partially/fully automated (sourcing things like mangaupdates, which is how it should be done if we care about old works).

I don't see any reason not to add the tag. But I object to the idea of having some random person update the tags of titles they don't read. Either automate it, or, better yet, let the fan-base update it as per norm. (seriously, we would never add any tags if a single individual had to updating every title manually. One of the benefits of being in an online community is that your not alone, your surrounded by complete strangers who are enshrining the same or similar things as you)

I'm going to invoke the slippery-slope argument here:

If you add yandere, why not tsundere?
How about kuudere etc?
Where does it end?

And all of these are subjective assessments of character archetypes anyway. Do we really need arguments over which characters are really yandere or not in the comments? =_=;

That is a valid argument @Pokari that can't be disputed. However Yandere also tends to be the focus of the manga it comes up in where the others tend to be side characters. As far as arguments in the comments go , that is an equal worry about any of the tags and themes.

To me, arguments in the comments about character-achetypes would seem to be potentially more caustic than arguments about plot-archetypes, but I admit I have no evidence for that, so eh.

However, I'm not sure I agree that Yandere tend to be main characters? In the manga I read, at least, they're really much more likely to be side characters—either for comedic relief, or to provide dramatic tension of some sort (or both).

IMO, the firmer argument for a yandere-tag would seem to actually be how niche it is to actually have them play a starring role—most people don't prefer (semi-)stalkers starring in their romances; the other most common -deres would seem to be less polarizing.

That leads to a different slippery-slope problem, however... We don't tags for every plot element that's an "acquired taste", do we? There's quite a lot of them.

I think Yandere's tend to be equal representation Side and main, about as much as any other archetype besides tsundere. I also think we shouldn't go down this path, I'd rather not have it become like nhentai with 50 tags on everything.

@Pokari The slippery slope has been started. Gyaru is arguably as rare as yandere yet it would be the focus of the manga if a character were to carry this trope just as well. It's not a thing exclusive to -deres but literally every character trope in existence.

I'd argue that some character tropes deserve a tag while others don't. Where is this line that separates those with and those without? I'd say that if the fanbase actively yearns for it then the tag should be added with exception of a few things that the mods are able to decide upon.

The tags are (at least in principle) meant for themes etc. that are representative of the series as a whole. While I'm sure there's some manga where it would be perfectly valid by our definitions to tag as Yandere (i.e. the manga revolves around one or several specific yandere characters), we'd prefer to not include tags like these (Tsundere, Childhood Friends...) where it would be expected that they'd be applied pretty frivolously (e.g. one side-character happens to be a yandere).

Gyaru is in a similar position, I'll have to agree, but at least the tag is doing its job correctly. Komi-san isn't getting tagged as gyaru even though Manbagi is a recurring character now, which is how it should be. Yandere and Tsundere seem more nebulous and easy to mistag based on our standards.
