some uploaders suffers from theft so just to somehow kinda protect their uploads from getting stolen by others is to disable the right-click function for every uploaded manga chapters.

If someone wants to rip your chapter, disabling right click won't stop them. There is no way because ultimately they can just simply print screen.

The way I think about this problem is that as MD gets more and more popular, the other dodgy aggregators will become less popular.

At some point in the future, it won't matter they are ripping is because the majority of people will be using our site.

Even if we disabled right-click & save it would only bother normal users trying to save one or two pages.
Aggregators fetch the images with specialized software dedicated to ripping our files.
Remember: Even big companies like Netflix fail to completely shut down piracy of their content.

Personally, I'd like to see MangaDex head the direction of more accessibility rather than less, eventually offering a public API for apps and possibly even zip downloads for offline viewing. There isn't really a good reason to lock things down (aside from measures to prevent server abuse) when access to chapters and images are supposed to be public, and the primary distribution method of many prominent scanlators are zip downloads or unsecured online readers on their sites or even IRC. Only a very small minority (usually those obsessed with monetization) attempt to lock thing down, but those scanlators likely wouldn't upload to MangaDex first anyway.

Sadly, the most effective measure to take against dodgy aggregators is to encourage people not to visit and support them. Since most degrade image quality, have harmful ads, and/or watermark, it's always been mystery why some people even use such sites out of choice. This has been a problem for all the online readers hosting original untouched images which have existed over the years (MangaToshokan->Batoto->MangaDex), to the dismay of scanlators but no real solution. One thing in MangaDex's favor are upload rules 2.1.1 & 2.2 which are much less restrictive then Batoto's policy on such things, and should go a long way at avoiding dodgy aggregators becoming the only source of some types of content.

Disabling right-click would do absolutely nothing against aggregator scraping bots, and the only real consequence is it would inconvenience and make normal users mad.

@GridLite Well, yeah, the stealing aggregators upload even dozens of chapters a day. Nobody's got time to right click images individually to gather so much manga. It's all bots. That's why they also have occasionally the broken uploads when the bot either malfunctioned or a scanlator arranged a little trap for them.

Not like I'd really need it, but I'd be quite annoyed by the right click not working. It's supposed to be there, on web pages. During the DDOS displaying an individual image via right click sometimes allowed reading a chapter that wouldn't otherwise load properly.
