AH, I FUCKING KNEW THAT GUY WAS GAY, SAW THAT TWIST FROM A MILES AWAY.
also bro proposed him to become his house-husband, that's funny as hell.

my theory was that he wanted to get her out of pure hubris,
but he seemed to actually have much stronger feelings and respect toward our depressed boy.
i fucking CALLED IT.

i like this dynamic, he could actually be a genuine rival to her.
it's nice to see best boy actually gets the appreciation he actually deserve from someone else.

i'm actually rather conflicted on the main-ship, because while Kyousuke is a absolute gem, hard to say the same for Rui.
i get that the appeal is specifically to see her gets humanized over time, and start to actually care about their relationship.
to the point that she actually somewhat lost her shit and got jealous, but i still can't say i'ma huge fan of that ship.

they are TERRIBLE in term of chemistry.
he's a overly-sensitive romantic sweet-heart, she's smart but also completely indifferent and apathic girl.
i can't see this relationship develop in any ways other than by seeing him being hurt over and over until she fucking learn.
and in fact it has already happenned multiples times because she keep either intentionnally ignoring his feelings, or missing them.

Huh. Guess I can't say 'Get married already idiots!' in this particular case.
They're not idiots you got to remember you got a stupid jealous fucking doo diet suppose we use a date the girl that proposed to marry the main character, and you got another girl who's being stupid. I think this whole manga is dumb with those two people getting People's way of love.

After reading everything so far. I want to say this this is one of the most stupidest dumb mangas ever. Don't get me wrong marry with divorce is fine main character is cool, the other female main character is awesome, but you got this want to be looking pretty boy who thinks he's all that. If that was me in the manga, then he would have got his face rearranged and look uglier than before. As for that women she should go to hell too. If it's just a storyline I think it's just dumb as hell having two stupid jealous people interfering against two people who knew each other since high school and they started developing feelings. The most stupid fucking storyline ever the setup is beyond retarded You're not feeling anyone This is just stupid. Pretty boy jealous who is mentally stupid because he lost someone that he never had dated.

I don't understand how this cunning plan is meant to work.

So, I get the frustration and I don't disagree that this whole premise could have went in a way better direction than using the cheap drama. Now Itsuki's (pretty boy that's trying to break them up, or rather was trying?) is used a crutch to move the two main character relationship forward. I don't like it either, but I get it why he's in the story.
What annoys me the most though, is that it had a decent start but then keeps fumbling it. Kinda feels like it was a oneshot initially but now the author has no idea how to properly build up on the story. The female co-worker is the comedic relief (annoying but don't care), the ML is boring, self-deprecating (without the humor) guy who's always depressed (or seems that way), the FL seems to be the only person so far in this comic (11 chapters in) that had even a semblance of character development (ML had a glimpse of it at chapter 9 but then reverted back shortly after).
Like it has ideas that this or that needs to happen (to follow the cliche checklist), but everything just keeps turning out bland/undercooked...

Tl;Dr: Had a solid start, but fell off a cliff, and then enabled the turbo jet at chapter 9+

Also for reference I'm a guy. Gonna be honest what distinguishes Josei from Seinen, Josei doesn't shy away giving guys punches between their legs....Shoujo is even more devious in my opinion and the fantasy of girls is a nightmare for boys luckily when genre demographic goes up so do cringy gender based fantasies also mellow down a bit.

What i mean by girl based fantasies that can be hard to swallow for guys:
1) You current girl introducing nonchalantly her exes.
1.1 Sometimes they are clearly superior in many aspects (That's quite a low blow for the current guy. Also the problem stems that while you are with someone you try to think that your relationships are exclusive and intimate and meeting your partner's ex'es is hurtful (for any gender i think), since it decreases exclusivity with your partner
2) Having multiple guys proactively flirting with a girl while still engaged in some sort of relationships (dating or marriage)
2.1 Sometimes if not majority of times no active rejection towards those flirting guys
There are other points but currently they are not related to this manga and are not worth mentioning (1.point was the introduction phase and sadly she didn't even acknowledge what the problem is and 2.point him openly declaring his intentions and even saying that he communicated with her parents while she didn't state any boundaries which implies future events when he will overstep boundaries and she will not stop him.

My prediction: During midpoint, they will have good days and bad days (fillers). Meeting with the parents will go bad at first but he with his kind heart will melt his mothers(or fathers) heart and will even improve her parents relationships. Her ex doing a lot of stuff to sabotage them and even succeeding almost only for her to finally step up the emotional intelligence game or maybe MC finally growing some balls. There might be even redemption chapters for him when he will understand that they are meant to be together and he could not provide the same happiness as MC.
Since this is "Josei" i doubt it BUT there might be a female rival coming to snatch MC in order to make FMC grow as human (and understand her feelings a little bit) but even if it will happen since it is Josei the tribulation will be easy and quick in order not to damage motivation of girls who are reading this.(Some seinen and shounen authors do the opposite and quickly fall since NTR is fetish for a very small minority)
They will divorce! BUT this divorce will be only to make MC happy aka her remembering that MC loved the stories of romance between grandparents and re-marriage serving as a catalyst for "NEW BEGINNINGS" since by this time she would become at least "half human". (Or maybe mc will divorce her after she finally realised and told him his feelings but MC will divorce her because he finally gotten some balls and will propose to her once again with good rings and etc.)

Anyway, I'm a dumbass who knows that reading Josei is like inflicting pain to oneself BUT i had found some gems among this shit that makes me mad and because of that i sometimes indulge in this demoralising genre in order to once again find gems
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION : Hokuo Kizoku to Moukinzuma no Yukiguni Karigurashi
FMC is a strong warrior noble woman who has problems finding a mate due to her exploits, MC is a norther noble who lives in a very harsh and remote location, quite handsome(beautiful?) and feminine. During their life together they change and become partners complimenting each other. FMC becomes more feminine and MC becomes or reveals his masculinity (C'mon living in harsh conditions) It's a more Slice of life, sweet story of a wonderful family WITHOUT CHEAP DRAMA (Meaning no freaking triangles, NTR or ther BS)
Bro wrote an essay, and I read it all. Thanks for the explanation, exposition and detail.

This is an excellent write up for the differences between Josei and Seinen. Josei romance mangas are basically doubling down on Shoujo tropes, making them more like Soap operas than anything else. The FML is either a useless pushover or a Mary Sue and the story all comes down on whether the author is a dom or a sub.

I think Josei romance manga's overemphasis on women fantasies tend to do more harm on the narrative and appeal towards the bigger audience which is why Josei romance mangas are uncommon and really great ones even so. Veil is one of the few PEAK Josei romance because it's very affectionate, realistic and reads like a period piece with not much drama at all and the female fantasy of being pampered and treated like a princess is well integrated. And the manga / light novel that you recommended is one to.

In my opinion, Seinen takes the biggest slice of the cake when it comes to the amount of PEAK romances, with so many great to masterpiece romance mangas to choose from, despite the demographics' lack of quality control. Insomniac After School is the best high school romance of all time. Spice & Wolf is the best light novel and the best modern fantasy novel on top of being the best mature romance novel of all time. Sweat & Soap is the best erotica of all time. There's just so many romance masterpieces to choose from. And it think it has to do with the way Seinen writers write men and women in a way that doesn't lean too much towards trope dynamics and more on character introspection. Renge to Naruto is basically the Otaku x Gal dynamic except the guy is a realistic depiction of an underachiever and his self-esteem and self-image issues isn't because he's an anime Otaku but because he was barred from pursuing his dreams by his abusive mother. There's just so much emphasis on organic development that you don't see much on other demographics.

Thanks for some recommendations. I will try to read Veil. As for seinen? I've read them all.
I'm always in search for something especially nice monogamous romance stories.

Sadly a lot of works shounen and some seinen have a tendency to show - weak MC's who are not assertive (like at all), love-triangles, harems (platonical) and etc. I've almost gave up on manga until i found Sweat & Soap which gave me a boost that not all mangakas are bad and can portray something more real and mature. Spice & Wolf is legendary and was a catalyst that made me search for more. Renge to Naruto sadly i do not remember, but i will read it again (read it a year ago, up to ch.21).

As for shoujo and josei.
Funny thing is my first female demographic manga was shoujo called "Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii". I've watched the anime and then decided to read manga years later (i think it was 5 years ago). The pain of reading it was immeasurable, as an adult i could not stomach it and even posted a large snarky review. Princess Nike was like a kryptonite to me (i think to any man too).
Hokuo Kizoku to Moukinzuma no Yukiguni Karigurashi was actually a title that restored my faith and gave me a push to at least open my eyes towards josei, because due to Seredomos influance i banned all female orientated mangas.

In short: Shounen - Indecisive men with multiple girls in love with them. There is literally almost no action or intimacy (hand holding is considered peak).
Shoujo - Slutty behavior with multiple men. There is far more action and intimacy where a girl being in relationship with someone allows other guys to touch them frequently by distorting the line of their relationships or not having any official relationship but being fluid about many men.

What i find disturbing is that many young adults (especially in Japan) resemble more shounen and shoujo characters rather than seinen or josei. Even EU and US has a lot of that. For example situationships and friendzones <- The most wild things for me. So reading nice, mature romance about a monogamous pair is my escapism from depravity of our reality.
