Quite frankly, he was kind of an absoulte dick for being so vocally upset that she didn't measure up to those expectations that he had made up all by himself. It's good that he realized it and apologized, but... it bothers me that the story has her accepting that abuse before he apologizes.
Which is to say, I can certainly forgive him for being young, and dumb, and not aware of how one's own words come off—but the author is worrying me just a little.
