I guess the king likely has some understanding of Fildos abilities, likely doesn't want the Elf Kingdom incident to repeat. If he can point gift an entire nation back from the brink of disaster than its probably best to keep him under your rule. Poor dude. Kinda not feeling the direction of this story tho.
well its just been a little over 10 chapters, but I can say that the King wants to tie Fildo up to the country for reasons, and the direction this is going is "try to keep [The Potential] in our country even if some tricks are involved" and Fildo just going to plots becoming and actual experienced person in the journey be it honey traps, contests of strength, trickery such as small print on contracts etc, and if that doesn't work maybe get rid of him whatsover before the enemy gets his hand on him, you know the usual cliché for [strategic level] cheats that some MCs have in these stories.

He's obviously not going to win unless he somehow gets a power boost that lets him match the insanely OP paladin that he had no chance of ever defeating in a fully equipped fight due to gear differences and level differences. He should have never accepted the duel. He should have shut his mouth and let the paladin badmouth his friends because he should have known there was no way to win that fight and been afraid of the conflict. But instead we're going to get characters making stupid decisions and MC becoming enslaved to this kingdom through this guild and giving up all his points and repeating his past because he's dumb, or we're going to get an insane power boost out of nowhere because the writer is incompetent.

This is all so very tiresome.
MC will definitely win it's the way it goes. The paladin insulted team member and wants apology that is very important to Japan culture. So one way or other he will win or just say he's pass a test

sigh.. this kind of story is so annoying. he should have just ignore him, but i can't blame him for defending his friends. however, the bet is still too much. their freedom vs a single apology? come on.. he's not going to get enslaved again, is he?
Nope the author is japanese so must have the paladin apologise and maybe a bow. No way will let paladin win

There is no "let" about it, the MC doesn't have the ability to punish the paladin. Might makes right, unfortunately, and the MC might cannot match the paladin's to any meaningful capacity. MC winning is a ridiculous prospect, at this point the logical conclusion is for him to lose and be a subservient little slave for the guild that the paladin was trying to force him into and give up all his experience points just like he used to do, and if he gets revenge it will be by backstabbing the guild and country by managing to break the contract to steal experience points at a later date from everybody else, assuming he isn't killed first.

Uhm, no. The commercial prospects for the story that you just sketched would be just dreadful.

That's the author's problem for generating this story line in the first place. It's not my fault he wrote a story where the MC was stupid enough to challenge an opponent who was way stronger than him to a duel, with the understanding that if he loses he becomes a guild slave and if he wins he gets effectively nothing. If I had it my way, the MC never would have been in this scenario in the first place because he would have been intelligent enough to realize this was both a stupid bet and a stupid fight. Don't blame the messenger, blame the writer.

But this is the same character that split the head of the giant turtle that give an entire elves country a problem, and somehow he can't handle a human that just got buffed a bit from a magic sword
Because, as is actually explained in this chapter, there's a HUGE difference between attacking and defending against a big lump of monster, or actually fighting an intelligent opponent.
Doubly so if that opponent is highly trained and motivated.

It's a concept at the core of any martial art, western or eastern: intelligence >> skill >> power.

So that turtle wasn't much of a problem. Massive target, just apply sufficient power.
This fight is a completely different challenge, so yes... Our MC struggles, because just using more power is not the answer here, and his opponent is more skilled in actually using his power(s) to maximum effect.

If the mc can, realistically, there isn't a good argument why another human can't achieve something similar with more time and experience. The guy's raw ability is lower but still super human. He then has a magic sword the make up the difference. Then there's the 'street fighting' point being made, like when Ryu and Ken first fight Guile in the anime and learn that, in street fights, pocket sand is a thing and that their training up to that point is insufficient for dealing with tricks. It's entirely reasonable for the mc to be struggling with someone whose been at the top for awhile when he's only recently got there.

The paladin's advantage comes from indirect tricks and carefully maximizing his abilities at the right moment. It's not a general power gap. If he won here by just somehow getting stronger, it would contradict the setup. The point is how they wield power, not how much they have, and the mc wields it poorly right now.
In essence it’s the same as two people of similar strength fighting in a game but one having experience wielding their strength and the other just being strong and not knowing how to utilize it effectively. Can you force your way through problems? Yes, but the moment someone with genuine skill is your opponent it doesn’t matter how strong you are if you don’t know how to use it

Abandoned manga? It been three months. But well. The artwork remind me to MHA and the plot is kind of similar too. The mc will do some asspull for sure but if he lose I'll drop this. What's the point in be op if he get defeated easy several times?

I get it that the MC could be poisoned, since it make sense that being way stronger doesn't mean you're immune to poison

But this is the same character that split the head of the giant turtle that give an entire elves country a problem, and somehow he can't handle a human that just got buffed a bit from a magic sword
These kind of stories genuinely always manage to annoy me
Just because you have the strongest power to do that, doesn't mean you can beat someone who's experienced.

Time to leave the country, more corrupt Royalty 😐 Was already kinda sus, when he let Claude go free even though he knew what really happened considering how he treaded Flido, but him being forced to join Silver Blade for some random sh** now would be a bad twist in my opinion

This is getting tiresome
It is also DISGUSTING that the Silver Blade Guildmaster (SBG) refuses to lose the match when his official wooden sword is destroyed. Either he continues to fight on that way, or surrenders. But instead, he switchs to a real metal weapon of superb properties versus the MC. How can the SBG lose if he keeps changing the conditions each time he gets a setback? VERY DISHONEST match with unilateral rule changing.
