This is a really great manga. The art style was a little different, but I'm glad I got into it at the conclusion of the first arc. It was such fun to read from start to the prez/vice-prez graduation. Just the right enough of progression in the main couple and side characters. I really really enjoyed two MCs (femMC and maleMC) actually being kind of normal - not super smart/stellar at something, just kind of average but a little quirky (the side characters have crazier quirks). And speaking what they feel as they figure it out. Etc.

But I also love all the side characters, from the sisters, to the fathers, etc. I hope we get some more spotlight of the mothers too. Parents being alive an present in a manga romcom - scandalous!

It's all great!

I'm at chapter four now. Do the male MC's get any less insufferable?
A dumb snitch and an even dumber busybody are not exactly the type i want to relate to.

Anyone else in chapter 62?
Wonder is the guy with two drinks is an upcoming new character or it was Sakuradaimon bringing juice but decided to hide

Most of this was pretty decent....
But the shipping of Nadeshiko and that utter shit-tier waste of space, time and carbon called Kaoru completely ruined the series. Utterly irredeemable. Had to drop it because I couldn't tolerate the worst ship in the history of bad ships any longer.

I wanted to like this manga, but I hate short skirts lol.

including something I don't understand, girls complaining about others seeing their panties but they want to wear a mini-skirt, women's fashion is a little stupid sometimes.

A couple of things I think wannabe readers of this should know before going in:
1. This manga has an ensemble cast, which means even tho the titular characters are the protagonists, there are many main characters. Which means there are A LOT of chapters that have NOTHING to do with the main couple.
2. Volume 14’s cover is bait.

The Strengths: A Comedy That Defies Expectations

At first glance, this manga seems like a standard romcom—strict but dim-witted prefect Tougo and rebellious, sharp-tongued Poemu bicker their way into romance. But Yokota Takuma quickly shifts gears, turning it into a wildly unpredictable ensemble comedy where the romance is just one piece of a much crazier puzzle.

Instead of sticking to a will-they-won’t-they dynamic, the story embraces absurdity, jumping from one ridiculous scenario to another. The humor isn’t just in punchlines but in how these characters—each flawed in their own way—fail spectacularly at normal human interactions.

When a joke lands, the author refines it instead of repeating it mindlessly, keeping the comedy fresh.

Unlike many romcoms that rely on artificial tension, emotional moments here feel organic because they’re rare and unexpected.

The Weaknesses: A Double-Edged Sword

The manga’s biggest strength—its refusal to stay predictable—also leads to its biggest flaw: inconsistent character focus.

The author frequently drops underused characters in favor of new, wackier personalities. While this keeps the comedy dynamic, it leaves some arcs feeling half-baked.

Final Verdict: Chaotic, Hilarious, But Uneven
If you want tight storytelling or deep character arcs, this might frustrate you. But if you’re here for unhinged, laugh-out-loud comedy with occasional surprising heart, Ponkotsu Fuukiiin delivers. It’s a rare romcom that cares more about making you laugh than making you swoon—and that’s why it works.
