Its nice to have a high res scans but you relay should work on your compression as it is a B/W picture try using only gray scale and give is a 90% compression in save for web in photoshop you will keep the quality but the save size will be around 500k and more ppl will be able to enjoy it

3 mb per page is a bit to much for most ppl, Not every one has a 10mb up connect.

Yeah man, you're 100% right. If it wasn't 1:22AM last night, I probably would have updated it. First upload ain't the best, but we'll do better next time. I've already been in talks to learn how to fix that and I'll update the chapter when I get it fixed. Likely when my typesetter wakes up in like 6 hours or so. Thanks for the comment though, criticism is great my man.

I worked in the business long time ago. Your scans have enough quality to use png. Just use "256 colors", "max compression", "filter: none". Of course only for b/w pages. For colors it usually jpeg 95% quality.
Just tried for few pages - up to triple size reduction without losing details. Used just simple soft as well, "FastStone Photo Resizer", on already existing pages, with direct saving maybe will be even better results.

Reduced by half or more. Unfortunately, the typesetter for this currently only has GIMP, but I can probably reduce it further by asking someone else. Let me know if this is decent or if there's any improvements I can make.
