Okay, so now at least we know: Jeongtae is ruthless and cold-hearted. While Yun-yeong advises going to desert areas after eye contact, he advises going to crowded areas. That means he doesn't mind how many people get their souls devoured so long as he escapes with his. Very ominous indeed.

Yeah, the contrast is interesting. TBF he also believes in fighting them, and others cant. So it would make sense continuing to survive to stop more and more of them. Yun-yeong on the otherhand tries to run away and survive, so her just avoiding bringing in more losses also makes sense. The other thing is, in a crowded area wont they just get smarter and smarter while after you?

From what we've seen so far, consuming a soul seems to satiate a hunter. After eating the cousin, the hunter didn't continue the hunt. Rather, it seems to take some time to, let's say, "digest" the soul and "become more human." So, I don't think a hunter would just continue chasing through a crowd of people getting smarter and smarter along the way.

Jeongtae seems to have survived under the idea that you don't have to outrun the monster, you just have to outrun everyone else.

Eventually, he'll have to deal with the smarter-getting ones, though, so this is ultimately just a band-aid solution. Possibly dying later probably beats dying now, though.
