@GaikoTekina
I'm not talking about this chapter, I'm talking about overall
Chapter 21: Maya's brother to Ritsu - "You decide to come all the way here not caring what others around you would say but it seems like it was all so you could play around with a girl you don't have any interest in, hm? Though for some reason, that really pisses me off. Don't you think that the person you're searching for has completely forgotten about you and is enjoying his life just like you are, right now? You should just give up on that trifling attachment of yours, already."
Ah yes what a good friend from abroad who absolutely does not have any bad feelings towards Ritsu. Not one word was laced with sarcasm and hostility.
Ch 23: Talking about Ritsu's fight with his teammates, again Maya's brother - "Haah... I guess he still takes it upon himself to solve things, huh. So he's the same even over here, giving selfish plays and thinking that pitchers are just pitching machines for him...that's the kind of person that guy is. ... As for his role as a catcher, he's the worst at it."
Oh there's no grudge here, none whatsoever, there's no possible way that maya's brother hates ritsu or blames him for anything. Of course not, maya's brother is just
misunderstood
Ch 24: Itsuki - "Why're you so interested in Ritsu?"
Maya's brother - "Hm-- I wonder why? (How should I say this...). I want him to go through something much worse than what I've been through when my life went into disarray."
Ah yes, now no one can say that Maya's brother holds any kind of desire for revenge against Ritsu for
something that Ritsu was
indirectly involved in
What I was trying to convey with my first comment is that this is the classic trope when going through any kind of sports-related romance drama series. The main lead was
somehow indirectly related to a different character's injury, which leads to tons of moments that extend the story and make things more dramatic. I was hooked in by the premise at the beginning, and I'm excited to see how Ritsu deals with his sexuality after learning that Izuki is Itsuki, but these side stories are just rehashes of common tropes that I've already been through before. I was hoping we wouldn't have to sift through these tropes as readers.
