I am happy with this but also should I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, whoever is translating this? I guess there is that random fuckboy from some chapters ago skulking around somewhere; was the NTR that she apparently has dated guys before? I mean, it's fine for your partner to have a dating history. Functionally unavoidable past a certain age even (although it might be different these days). For people who are stressed out about "used goods" or whatever, I'm not going to moralize on that but she didn't seem too interested in any of the guys she was dating in that flashback, and dating someone doesn't necessarily mean you end up doing anything physical or sexual with them. If anything, this juxtaposed with the current relationship between the male and female lead just reinforces how much they love each other (even if one of them isn't ready to be honest yet).


On another point, I find it so hard to imagine something drawn with this artstyle not being extremely wholesome. I mean, look at how cute it is. They're adorable.

Depends tbh. Believe it or not men and women perceive cheating very differently. So what may seem like cheating to a man may not be to a woman and vice versa. Tho from the way you describe this I don't see how you can make excuses for him other than they're not dating still or they are and for some reason falls for temptation even tho he's liked this girl for so long and now that he has her decides to throw it all away from what reason?

What moment was that

When the male lead was about to have sex with that shy girl and then stopped at the last second (or stopped in the middle? That's what was said by someone else and I haven't reread). Just on grounds of them still having "fwb" status with no clear boundaries at that point it only could really be called "cheating" from the reader's perspective. Breaking boundaries in a fwb relationship is a bit different from that I'd say.

Yeah once we get there...at this point in the story unless there's a very good explanation for it the male lead is an asshole for pulling that. If the explanation is just Misunderstandings 2.0 I'm going to be disappointed.

Also yeah, on a broad level men and women see cheating differently; although I wouldn't say this is inherent: For example women in Japan see cheating differently from women in America, although over time the world has been somewhat more homogenized by Westernization. But on a more basic level from everything I understand I'd say men are more likely to treat their physical intimacy as not being cheating and a woman's emotional intimacy as being cheating, while women are more likely to treat emotional intimacy as not being cheating and a man's physical intimacy as cheating.


You can sort of see it in the media that depicts cheating or cheating-adjacent things aimed at men or women; just within the scope of manga on one end you'll have a man balls deep in someone despite having a fiance/wife and (at least in the narrative) being in the clear because they only have eyes for their "true partner" and on the other end you'll have a female lead being incredibly close with someone who is clearly into them despite explicitly being in a relationship or very interested in someone else, whether out of naivete (her relationship with their partner or love interest is good) or otherwise (her relationship with the partner/love interest is either up in the air or looking bad), but most likely not in a physical sense (at least in terms of having sex).


Not that this is accurate across the board, but close enough in this case.
