this is massively under-read, one of the better manga that i've ever read. If you want fantasy that feels like fantasy without all the isekai or rpg elements bullshit, READ IT

Considering its publication years, the author really managed to flesh out a compelling world full of beautiful and innovative imagery, as well as interesting concepts that clearly inspired many later manga. But dear lord, the main character is such an unsufferable, unbearable piece of shit without any likeable personality traits and no use for a brain.

Such a wonderful fantasy series ! The story doesn't seem particularly planned out, as it goes from befriending toddler dragons, pillaging lizard men, spider grannies to whatever the author wanted to draw at a given time. But its adventurous and joyful spirit are highly contagious.
I would compare it to something like Spike & Suzy, but with a higher body count.

Just here to point out that some of the chapters are out of order. Bunkoban volume 3 has its chapters rearranged. "Geolug's Head," which you've marked as chapter 31, actually comes right after chapter 26 "The Lonesome Palpao." And the "The Boar King" through "Skullman" are actually chapters 36-39, coming right after "The Shining Amulet: Finale."

Just recently mentionned this manga when I'm thinking of a top tier manga.
And here I am again, planning to read this for the 4th time (read this before in other places).
There is just something classic and magical in this manga that made me place this manga top in my heart and mind.

Art is old classic shoujo style, now what I like personally, but I can't say it's bad, surprisingly I find it positive.
It is very fitting for the story and narration style it's trying to tell, art and story is a match made in heaven.

More modern reader might have a hard time getting used to the artsyle or perhaps the slightly slow pace of story, still, I strongly recommend to try continue reading this.

The best part of this manga is that, the adventure felt real.
It's like I'm back into my childhood and reading those adventure stories, but this manga is something even adult can appreciate.

Wada Shinji (Author) & the scan team, whoever & wherever you are, I'm in gratitude for having the chance to read this epic manga.
If only there are much more manga like this D:.

BTW, initially found this manga because of Berserk Author mention in one of his interview something along the line "Berserk is heavily inspired by Pygmalio by Shinji Wada".
If you like Berserk, definitely give this a try.
