About the names, please go easy on the author. The number of cases involving foreigners in this series is really high compare to other famous detective manga (Case closed at least) afaik and that already is a huge burden on the author, having to do researches about culture and stuffs, at which point correct names are close to the last thing you could care about. Also, since the target readers were supposed to be Japanese, I think having simple and somewhat odd names might give off a more friendly vibe. My home country appeared for like twice in both C.M.B and Q.E.D. and each time there were weird names flying around. I found it kinda hilarious and were completely fine cuz the stories themselves were really well done.
