Funny, I've been waiting for this moment the whole time I was reading through. And yet it feels so... hollow. They had all this buildup, and they just completely fucked the landing in these last few chapters. I feel betrayed. It used to be a story that drew me in, that I could read for hours without pause, and now it's painful to continue. Sunk cost fallacy is the only thing keeping me going. This is the most profoundly depressed a story has made me in a long time.
I know exactly what you mean, it feels so disappointing the way it happened

I definitely wouldn't have minded being led around with a carrot on a stick for a couple dozen chapters or so, but to say that the story butchered the love confession is kinda silly. Especially given that the only real barrier for them being together was Evie's denial of her own sapphic tendencies. Once that is all forced out, there really is nothing stopping her - they live together and Evie is now seeing that her original goal to make Elsa happy can coincide with her own happiness.

Symbolically for Elsa too, she's coming back to the only other space that has made her happy and protected her. Her past and future meet in quite a nice way here, and if the other pink/purple-ish hair girl is truly a future her, then this only makes more sense. The orphanage and her hometown are elements of her identity, which has been shifting as she has met and gotten to know Evie. Maybe it didn't need to happen then, but it was nice that it happened there.

On a separate note, the manhua hasn't really explored Elsa's sexuality as much as Evie's, and with the fear of having taken this too literally, Elsa is more Evie-sexual than she is gay, and that the opposite might be for Evie. Straight girls can be himejoshis, but let's be honest, the text is totally implying that Evie is at least curious about these types of relationships.

Garth :meguupog:ing in the chat.
