@ceneoss did u read the whole manhwa? She already wanted to suicide when she went for the slipping pills but the pharmacy was closed or sth, MC ran fast as hell to home when he found out about it and told her she can't suicide, she needs to live with the guilt to atone for her sin.
I already wish for her to get a rest, she made mistake but she was kinda blackmailed, she has a shit life now anyway, her son hates her, can't even look at her face why this author want to make her look even more miserable. She tried to get some money with the new job to escape landlord grasp but she meets another rapist... How unlucky is that woman.
MC still cares about his mother(the slipping pills situation kinda showed it) she is still his mother and she knew the landlord is the main culprit.

I do agree though, the mother is in my opinion the most pitiful character of the series and the author is really cementing this as fact rather than guess.
For a fault of her husband's (and landlord's wife), the landlord gives them shit to eat in favor of evicting them out of spite. Freely taking advantage of her as her man becomes more of a vegetable than Kirito, and her son who couldn't see the forest from the trees even after having it spelled out to him.
It's pretty outrageous how one character alone, attracts so much amorous behavior towards her.

Also that man is drunk, he shouldn't be that strong, i bet she manage to escape. The second option could be the guy from work following her to check how its going for her and gonna save her. Third but the least possible, police gonna come check on this guy to see how is he doing since he was a rapist(also maybe someone hears noises and call for them?)
