Question on Planned Feature for Follows Thumbnails

The https://mangadex.org/follows page has no thumbnails to help me identify the manga other than the title. I see in the future implementation follows section sticky there is an 'Add thumbnails on chapter view.' Will this implementation add thumbnails to the follows page entries like we have on https://mangadex.org/updates? If not, would you consider implementing this?

I am reasonably sure that's exactly what it means, if only because I cannot think of any other plausible explanation for what "add thumbnails on [follows] chapter view" could mean.

I agree. What made me ask was that the follows page is only chapter view (as far as I can tell), and the redundant wording of the implementation 'add thumbnails on chapter view' made me worry that it might be for something else.

I would suppose as opposed to the titles view (which already shows covers) or the groups view (probably doesn't need thumbnails) or that "follows" tab on the front page that is probably becoming something entirely new or just going away in v5 (also already shows thumbnails but has some functionality issues)

Haha yep! I would love for our follows to get the same thumbnail love and be able to see at a glance what I'm prioritizing in this feast of manga.

We have two kinds of chapter list views: 1) the one where all the chapters belong to a single manga (visible in a manga page, obviously) and 2) the one where the chapters may belong to multiple manga (visible in follows, group pages and user pages, and more to come in the future).

In the sticky it's listed as under Follows since that's what most people asked about, but the same view would apply to every type 2 chapter list. As we already have with manga lists, we're planning on making more than one type of view option for chapter lists, but that's all design questions for v5. The main problem is making it all look good and not insanely cluttered.

Thanks for that breakdown. It sounds like follows will get thumbnails in v5. For my two cents, I'm pretty happy with the look of https://mangadex.org/updates. It's really clean and works with multiple chapter updates. If the follows page looked like the updates page, it would be very usable. Maybe throw in a tag filter and the grid toggle option for even more flexibility. Anyway, congrats on the site and thanks for making such an amazing place to enjoy manga.
