Hope I don't mess this up...
QoTD 68: What's your absolute favourite trope? (optionally include examples)
QoTD 68.5: What's your least favourite trope?
My favourite trope is when a plan comes together nicely as a result of hard work and least favourite has to be Deus ex machinas and especially those which feel like asspulls.
A trope can be a narrative device, character type, plot point, setting, situation or really anything.
This isn't limited to just manga or anime. I'll allow anything like Deres, characters screaming or laughing, a second phase in a bossfight, ridiculous or iconic hairstyles, Engrish, breakdowns, good guy messing up something out of carelessness creating a disaster and whatever anti-heros are supposed to be.

Yes I copied it from Yogarto-kun but a Lord of Mysteries can do that, ok?
My Favorite Trope is the classic, ultra-magnum, long-lasting MacGuffin! What? "By Golly sir, you're speaking a different language, I do not know what this MacGuffin might be!" A MacGuffin; in case there isn't someone who knows what that is the Ring of Power: The Plot centralizes around that certain thing, that thing's existence, destruction, change, advancement, and degradation and it's effect upon others is a Trope I find fascinating. Sure, some might say it's overplayed, but I find the variety of things you can do to a MacGuffin are interesting.
A Manga Example would be the One Piece, easy enough, or for JojoLands Fans, the Lava Rocks.
My Least favorite trope was going to be something else but.. I kinda went down a road which may've ticked off some people; so I'll water the concept down; I hate character reversals, moreover Unwarranted Unreasonable, and Undeserved Character Reversals. You know when that one character is one way for a long stretch, and shows no signs of changing at all? Each scene, each episode reinforces them being that one way with no foreshadowing of otherwise? Then suddenly, they're a different person? You know all the "Anti-Social" protagonists suddenly are the leader of a group and whatnot?
NOW, I'm going to use Magi for example; I'm like 40 chapters in and one character who's a friend suddenly reappears now a foe. Now some may mistranslate that as a bad Character Reversal; but it's only bad if it's unsupported by reason. That said, one must admit, a character reversal as a twist is a tiring trope within itself, but I think that classifies as it's own... Sub-trope?
That's the trope I dislike. An example of this in Manga would be... hmm... Imma be honest I can't think of one right now, only ones from live action shows.
EDIT: I HAVE AN EXAMPLE! What's her name... Kozue from Baki, in Baki (Part 2 of the story) we get this super long "Power of Love" storyline between Kozue and Baki; Heck, there's even a spinoff Erotica Manga from Keisuke Itagaki to emphasize it for goodness sakes! And do you know what happens? Kozue ends up entertaining (Not literally) Ali Jr's attempt to steal her from Baki. Now, I get Baki's stance here; He's not going to lock her down; he want's what's best for her, whatever she wishes.
BUT, From when he gets sick, from the start of the manga they build up Kozue and Baki and through the Ratai Tournament or whatever it's called she's right there with him... Just to turn away, and be backseated until a half-@$$ed explanation is given in Part 3 to make her whole thing with Ali Jr seem justified. Just felt wrong man, that came out of nowhere; Can't read the second part to this day.
