No, that's still dumb, what does Junko Furuta have to do with all this? This was the case of local gangsta boy and his band kidnapping, raping and torturing a girl that refused him, meanwhile his band raped few other women as well before they got caught. What does it has to do with normal high-school girl? Are you gonna use Homolka couple as a standard risk for Canadian high-schoolers? Why not mention Zodiac killer to anywhere who says they want to move to Callifornia? Doesk Kitty Genovese murder means you can't call for help in USA? Every country has an infamous crime that moved the public opinion. You have to do better then just mention one of those like it's a valid argument in itself.
Simply means that shitbags exist and that I can't completely see this guy as cartoonish as he can be an outlier. I mean would you say Hannibal Lecter is a cartoonish character simply because people like him are not the norm?
I mean yeah this case is pretty different from Junko Furuta's, this guy ain't nearly as bad as them which in turn makes it more believable, less cartoonish. Of course you can't expect every or any japanese teenagers to be like those guys or this guy, however it does mean that whenever someone starts behaving like them it's not completely unbelievable and as such harder to consider cartoonish or exaggerated.
Admittedly author doing this kind of thing just as an excuse to get Ena to fall for MC is kind of lazy, but I wouldn't call that guy cartoonishly evil. Also while the concept is not particularly original I believe it has potential to become meaningful in the context of R15+ movies as this guy seems to care mostly about the "unpleasant" side of them, and I think the execution wasn't that lazy even if the concept aint original.
