It's very noticeable how differently Ena is drawn in this chapter to how she was drawn when compared to when she was first introduced to us

I'm not so sure of her innocence in ignorance. Her introduction was pretty nasty. She lied to the film club, including the film club advisor about her reasons to get a short film script. She told them the video club's screenwriter quit and the others in the club just couldn't come up with a worthy script. She did nothing but lie very fluently, roping in the teacher and used the film club's predicament to her advantage. Even if you considered that just fine, though I don't know why, she was even rude and insenstive enough to tell the film club she has no interest in movies, she just wants them to make the script for her.

How is that a person incapable of manipulating Akine? You might have already forgotten why the readers disliked Ena in the beginning.
She lied because she had to get naked in a film unless she comes up with a new script, and if she reveals that, it would make Umeki, who she considered her most important friend, look bad. She absolutely can not tell the truth. In a way, if you consider her to be the screenwriter, she is saying a half-truth as she did quit because she couldn't come up with a worthy script (it always got rejected).

Her having no interest in movies was just something she couldn't lie about because she was bad at lying. She tried. She's rude about it because just like Fuyumine, she has a communication disorder. He was very insistent on it and it will get anyone annoyed, intimidated, or put off.

Afaik, readers didn't like Ena because she seemed lazy, has a short attention span, and dissed on movies.

What kind of communication disorder is she supposed to have? Brainrot due to only watching video shorts? She certainly manipulated the film club well enough, which isn't really possible if you have a genuine, clinical communication disorder and folks aren't just helping you out of pity.

Even if you do it to make your friend look better, it's ill manners to manipulate others through lies and half-truths to do your work for you. She's a manipulator. Probably learned the tricks from TikTok.

If she didn't have a communication disorder, she wouldn't be a loner at the very least. I'm just translating it from how the Japanese calls it, "komyushou". It may not be clinical, but it does keep someone from being "normal" and normally make normal friends. It's usually caused by apathy, lack of social skills, shyness, or straight up an anxiety disorder. It could manifest as aloofness or even rudeness.

I never said she lied to make her friend look better. I said she didn't want to make her friend look bad. Umeki is an asshole and she didn't want to reveal that. On one hand, she was being charitable. But she had to do what she had to do because she was desperate and cornered. If she was actually "normal" she would have just left the club like everyone else.
