I love how everyone is serious and on edge on the last couple of pages but then it takes 1 panel for the princess to completely ruin the mood. And that end-chapter message "the silver-ware princess contracts a serious illness" roflmao!

We don't know a lot about the backstory of how he became a dragon and what he was doing before, but I'd guess he was probably a male when still human. Even in that flashback with the nuke you see that his "partner" is a girl, so it's not unlikely she was his lover or something.
