Why does he want lightning weapons? They got no substance, so you can't block with those. So all you do is constrict your offensive magic to a shape that limits its ability to hit things, and even in such a form that people in that world can be expected to have trained and grasped the kinds of movements he can do with them (just have to remember they can't block or be blocked).

In the first chapter the mother was going to toss the baby into the burning brazier to make him receive the fire blessing. Here it says the light blessing. Considering the first chapter, fire would seem to make more sense. Strange lack of consistency, nonetheless.

How???? the only way for it to have been redeeming for me would have been if the fire wouldnt have killed MC and that he would 100% get the blessing but we dont know that hence it just seems like she was gambling in killing MC aka she's a horrible mother

It seems to be a good family, based on this chapter, and the mother loves her child, the MC. Thus it's easy to conclude the fire thing was a standard procedure. It only looked like madness in the MC's eyes because he's not from that world. If technologically vastly superior space aliens visited Earth and had a look at our cancer therapies, they might also think it's sheer madness.
