Japanese really like to blame the kids of heroes it seems, every anime or manga with unambiguous heroism I've ever seen has this backstory, at least in some the heroic sacrifice was covered up but here....
clearly, heroes never fail, so those failures are no heroes and their children are cursed. It makes perfect sense
