I joked about it, now it really is puzzle time. I don't really see where the Poe society thinks murdering hundreds or thousands of people will endear them to anyone though, what's the larger plan? And did we ever get a reason for Ranpo, Poe etc. to be around while smartphones exist?

Seeing how kidnapping, slavery, unethical experiments, and murder seem to be wildly accepted in this world already...how could it not endear them?
