@Skcyte
To answer your question I have not have this feeling as much but that is due to not having read or seen a lot of modern Isekai stories. The only ones I am familiar with that uses video game mechanics are the anime adaptations of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime by Fuse and The Rise of the Shield Hero by Aneko Yusagi which takes it even further to the point it feel like the story is playing the game mechanics straight, which I find kind of weird in a funny way at times. The other Isekai stories I have read or seen do not take place in worlds in which the systems in place are gamified.

A web novel series titled Isekai Izakaya Nobu by Semikawa Natsukana is an Isekai story that does not use video game mechanics yet is not a dark and heavy story at all, but instead it's also a Slice of Life story with hart warming moments.
