I just read a manga that was so terrible it actually made me angry that I was even invested into it for an hour or two, the plot goes like.
MC rejected by Childhood Friend,
MC gets depressed and rides his bike far to go commit sewerslide he goes to a convenience store to use the bathroom,
he leaves the bathroom and the store is being robbed,
because MC is so sad and edgy he tells the robber to go ahead and stab him because his life has been so rough he lost all his family in a tragic accident, the robber flees because he’s freaked out,
The Clerk is his classmate (New Interest) she fell in love with him on first sight pretty much but he told her that he was gonna commit sewerslide she tells him to not he basically says “urmm okay!”,
MC stays at her house (no we didnt skip a step he basically immediately moved into her crib cus she has a stalker and hes her bodyguard now),
they fall in love, they date yada yada, they talk about their trauma (because ofc she is traumatised too) because her traumatic experiences were too intense for her she altered her memory and lie to herself about the truth (she was the reason his entire family died because she dropped a canned drink and it went under the brake pedal, no im not fucking kidding you) and because of her mental breakdown from remembering that experience, she lost her memory (again no im not kidding),
after learning she was responsible for his entire family’s death (and her own because her parents killed themselves afterwards), he gets with his childhood friend (forgot to talk about her, but she was in love with him all along but just didnt know it till it was too late), basically to just have someone to comfort him because he spent so much time in love with someone responsible for killing his family, but eventually he notices the only one he loves is the new interest, and goes on a long journey to make her happy again and date her again and make new memories despite her forgetting him, then eventually he breaks and forces her to face her trauma,
and it works it actually fucking works and suddenly she’s better, she still feels guilty but together they can push through it and they start planning out their future life and family together, and basically because MC hates birthdays so much CF, NI and NI’s Friend plan a nice birthday surprise for him.
YOU FUCKING WONT BELIEVE WHAT IM ABOUT TO TELL YOU.
apparently birthdays are so traumatic to him that he passes out and loses his memory… and it’s basically the same shit over again but the roles are reversed I’m so fucking mad.
