Basic premise, yep. Little more involved as the character's powers and abilities comes from how popular the works are and how much the readers believe in them. The underlying story is on the dark and serious side.

Some banger music out of the anime though, Hiroyuki Sawano did both seasons' openings and as well as the climax song.
