Well, it's subverted because he's an oni demi-god of some sort. He's not technically human, although his mind is.

I still don't understand the power level of this world. There's so much ridiculous levelled stuff in these admittedly god level dungeons, that I don't know how there's ANY information on what's inside or how normal people can survive a trip partially inside and out.

It's even worse than that... Since his prey is sometimes sentient, seeing him trying to guage how someone potentially innocent, is going to benefit him dead - - is pretty sickening whenever it is brought up. His behavior around the heroes was so uncomfortable.

The MC is basically a paycho narcissist who would ruin your life if it's up his fancy.
Thankfully, the entire manga isn't always like that, so it's at least readable.

He technically has become an Oni, as I've said before. Yatendouji. And Onis are known to be cannibals (or at least man-eating monsters) in Japanese lore. So it stands to reason he wouldn't hesitate to eat a human if it benefitted him.

Re-read the 1st chapter. He was always like this. He never changed.
Heck, even if "turning into an oni" changed it -- so what? Even if you get clubbed on the head, and as a result you become a giant asshole, does that mean you're magically fun to be around?
I personally don't find it very pleasing to read about someone who connives behind people's back, just so he can eat them later, even though they did absolutely nothing wrong. He's just a piece of shit.
It doesn't matter why "he's like that", all that matters is that some people don't find that aspect enjoyable.

But, again, for the most part -- he's with his gang, or dungeon delving, so the author's murder-wank is kept under wraps.

Simple answer: there basically isn’t, and they absolutely can’t. The bare minimum to survive even entering a God tier dungeon is for the party to be on the level of one or more of them having the blessing of a God, and the only information available in the world is what could be gleaned from failed expeditions. “Normal” people couldn’t even survive the trip to the dungeon’s border zone, much less inside it

It has been a while so I might have forgotten about that part. I guess he just fits into the monster rationale then.

MC has long lost of his human side. He's basically a monster than a human. Its more irrational to keep forcing to think thats he's still a human all the time. Its not like he was trying to go back home/world like some other MCs, he's already moved on with this life at this point. A monster that is, like the title did.
