After the tournament's original host abruptly resigned from the forums in February, nobody—and I mean NOBODY—had the slightest clue as to the fate of this contest. Who, if anyone, would carry on the mantle? Which submissions were objectively superior? Would anyone listen to these songs ever again?

Seemingly all hope was lost, and everyone was in peril and totally not mostly apathetic to the situation.
But with every dilemma comes a lemma, and with every crisis a hero.

So before I announce the winners of v5's very first music tournament, I'd like everyone to give a round of applause to the heroic co-organizers who stepped up to complete this event!

You know him, you love him (yes, romantically)—our forum's residential ojisan has truly carried this tournament's operational work on his fluffy, monochrome shoulders. I think the saying goes something like, "80-year-olds do 100 percent of the work of 20-year-olds," and that certainly has held true in our mutual endeavors. The way he initially chased us all around town when we mentioned continuing the tourney was startling at first—but you guys have to understand, he just really likes music.

From backhanding former hosts to backroom bargaining, it's safe to say this tournament wouldn't've made it this far without sterv's behind-the-scenes expertise. The various prizes that are (no longer) up for grabs were attained by way of his pervasive, inescapable tentacles—and that's really what this whole thing is about, right?

If you ever felt a peculiar voting breeze on the back of your neck (hard to describe, you know it when you feel it) or found a bruised banana at your doorstep—yeah, that was him. It really puts into perspective just how impressive it is that we rigged something of this scale. I'm even starting to feel a little bit guilty...

But thank you to everyone who voted! Without all of you, we couldn't have maintained the illusion of a legitimate tournament. Stuff like this is what makes the forums a special place for special people, and I hope to see and participate in more events in the future. And now, with everything wrapped up, it's time to close the curtains on the tournament at last...
