It IS the best sports manga, no question. Honestly, I'd put Real in my top 5 manga of all time.

There's nothing quite like this manga. Sports manga usually have these cliché troupes that you can predict, but so far every chapter of this series makes me want to know more, all the while wanting to stop seeing the struggles of REAL life.
I think I'm at a stage in my life, that unlike when I was younger and reading shonen manga where simply wanting to become the best is the main storyline, these worries the younger characters have - like having my father grow older - really resonate with me.
I guess I've grown up and at an older demographic, but I'm glad I was able to grow up in a generation where SD was how I felt then, and REAL is how I feel now.
