If the nobles wield that sort of power, Hiro should really consider moving elsewhere at some point. Maybe it wouldn't matter if he never becomes famous, but he already is a little bit famous. He also has a mystery ship. Some corporate types even wanted his genetic data. Logic dictates sooner or later he may encounter a noble who won't bother to ask for his cooperation but assumes it. If he doesn't submit, they will try to eliminate him. Serena might never even learn of it, to help him, or if her father tells her to not interfere, then that's it as well. The empire is a dodgy place.

Maybe the federation is a better place, especially if it's a republic. They did try to attack the empire, though, but they might have had valid reasons. Some other countries out there could be even better.

But then again, the dude wants to live pretty dangerously.
