rereading this i just realized that while love makes zhan hao a better person, it made sister tao a worse person and she seems to show bits of that older compassion even to him at the times he's shown to be distressed.
and speaking of what's wrong with their heads
while the girl seems to have a massive ego problem and just is slowly turning into an increasingly selfish person from after already having a fragile pride and she's just obsessed with herself now , the boy seems to more have something similar to a borderline personality disorder, with it being easier for him to have a very thin sense of self (Totally unrelated with the real condition and how it is in real life, just wanted to childishly and stupidly compare to some of the symptoms and probably also just the name, all gotten from the totally unrealistic points on some shallow internet resource)
and if he doesn't know how to deal with something, he goes full killer mode and just literally throws it and his self away and with it a lot of his built up human rationality goes away for a bit too, and he becomes this unfettered lunatic.
i guess that's my guess for him even though there's probably more to it and i'm also probably totally wrong
i also thought it was morbidly funny that this started when first, zhan hao made her feel worthless, and then he adored her deeply, which affected her a lot because she still felt worthless to him and wanted his approval. This is some sort of unintentionally abusive relationship stuff, though the fact that she became totally obsessed over being able to fully control his love speaks deeply of her original flaws, probably stemming from a fragile pride and a surprising amount of self-doubt, which is why she's this obsessed with forcing him to love her without any doubt ever possible and why she's even ok with it in the first place. It's really f>cked up in many ways.
Especially when she might've even had a chance anyways if she stopped the charm at some point and was just nice to him, as he seems to love his father just for those simple reasons and she has no trouble being generally nice to him. Her pride isn't necessarily bad but it becomes bad when she uses it to shield her cowardice and self-doubt, all of which slowly start to swallow her whole.
I wonder if it was getting the cheat that made her like this at the start, it would seem to be prime suspect even from early on this story.
I'm curious just how much it changed her,
i also think it's cool that it's kinda her f>cking up in the role of the mc of the story, tho i'd also say most martial art's mcs are literally based around being rewarded for being psychopaths, so i guess it's just about how it's framed, this also kinda makes it more likely that she really will go the distance and turn into a proper villain but i hope that really doesn't happen.
The romance is a yikes by now but she's got potential to be a decent person, but after saying that it now makes me think she won't change just cause how obsessed she is with that twisted "love" of hers and being the mc and how far low she's already gone for it. I guess just hope for the best.
