I knew he'd shoot down that method of winning. Even if it'd secure it there's no point if he doesn't win the way he feels necessary for taking down his rival.

Yeah, plus if we’re talking about things from an objective standpoint, the only way he can submit Kenshin is to become someone who can submit even grappling specialists and that’s just half the equation he needs to win.

This isn’t to say the lay and pray strategy doesn’t have merit. It’s just not enough for what he’s shooting fkr

Exactly! The things he needs to beat Kenshin will definitely become clearer to Aoba after he loses to Orima. Yes, I do think he's going to lose against Orima because Orima is using him for training for a higher level. Ability to better read his opponent's moves, high defensive ability, sustainability, and the grappling skill level he's growing closer to now. I imagine this guy will teach him some Kureishi moves before Kenshin as well.

I am dead ass hoping for the same thing, because not only would it be so fucking hilarious for Aoba to cuck Kenshin like this but it’s I genuinely solid opportunity to serve as a teaching moment. If he loses, there’s literally no shame to losing to a champion who is much older than him and only serves to better the story
