Realistically, based on the previous two fights, Aoba should get beaten pretty badly here. His defense (along with his footwork and kicking game) has not improved much. He was shown taking too many hits, plus he gets knocked down regularly during training. Not a good sign for a 19-year-old whose brain has not fully developed yet.

That said, given that he is the MC and most characters say it will be an easy fight for Orima, there will be some kind of plot armor.
So, I would not be surprised if we get a hidden power-up midway through the match. Like Aoba getting more technical with damage and fatigue as usual. Or the champ getting injured or having a low HP bar. Also, hope to see some back-of-the-head shots; the manga needs to follow the current MMA meta.

Aoba has become relatively more well-rounded but his defence in the Kureishi fight was not good. He was having to basically tank hits with his chin and then fire back when Kureishi overextended. His durability definitely proved to be better than we thought but not his actual defence.

Well, there is a difference between not having a good defense and what Aoba did in that fight. Kureishi was better on his feet, but he had less striking power compared to Aoba. Trading blows in that particular situation was a good call. If Aoba were to fight him normally, striking vs striking, even if he were to receive less damage, he would probably not have hit Kureishi enough to make the fight even; the most likely scenario would have been Kureishi winning by points at that point.
