@Vesper Shields are moderately expensive as far as medieval military equipment goes, mostly because they tend to take so much damage they don't last more than a couple battles and need to be completely replaced. They are simple to make, but when you're burning through that much material that quickly it can be very hard on the supply lines to keep everyone shielded.

Given that Shaon's people (the attackers) are still dealing with all the problems inherent in a civil war, it's feasible that they just don't have the resources (and maybe the money) to outfit everyone properly for a siege. Especially since the previous chapters established that they have something of a time limit to get this done.

Course, that's no comfort to the sorry bastards getting shot to shit.

@ninjadork still, with that said they had no siege weapons at all, what would they do after getting to the door? stab it till it opens, or try to climb the walls barehanded, they had nothing but their spears, that was hard to watch.

@Doomroar Keep in mind that these pics are focused on the grunts in the front; it's a little sloppy not to show at least one panel with them, but it's excusable given that Shaon's side must have siege weapons even if only ladders; it would be apocalyptically stupid not to have something, and previous chapters have proven that Shaon isn't that.

Don't worry all the webtoon showns is for the sake of dramatic scenes for the webtoon panels. The novel have a clear more description with soldier using medium to small shield to guard against arrow attacks. But it was not enough as the rain of arrows are coming from all direction.
