So if I understand this right, she was injured and could have recovered, but killed herself to avoid becoming a hostage.

On the one hand, cool.

On the other...I really don't think that was necessary.

And to top it off, this really does bring home the fact that Venersis is a great fighter / soldier / tactician, but a horrible commander

Yeah, at this point I don't think there can ever be peace with Shuaruri during Yulian's generation. Too much blood spilled, too much backstabbing, too many shameful acts (let alone killing Julian's mother, there's also the part where they brought foreigners in the desert).

@OraOraApril19 I think there will be, if only because the combination of the monster gates, the shame of Shaururi inviting foreigners into the war, and Shaururi getting utterly wrecked like this is going to break them entirely.

Shaururi is in a similar position, culturally socially and militarily, as Japan in the tail end of WWII. Given that Yulian and most of his advisors are both competent and (kind of) decent, I think it will play out much the same way.

Glad to finally see the truth of what happened to Yulian's mother. Glad Venersis didn't actually kill her. Don't know how Yulian would ever know that though.

Wow venersis is actually the scum of the earth dishonorable piece of crap, go suck your glows weener if you like him that much. If such a glow would be in pareia he would have been cut open and replaced with someone more capable.

Venersis is just as at fault as his Glow and the other warriors.
From the attack itself, to the death of Yulian's Mother, there was no honor in their methods -- only duplicitous deception for self-serving goals.

His dishonor comes from willingly following such an ego-centric megalomaniac, both before and after participating in this attack. He can try to hoard the blame for himself in order to absolve the tribe and Glow, but in reality, they all share the blame. No amount of altruistic didactic speeches or self-imposed martyrdom will change that. Pareia has good reason to hate these guys.
