So, the 1-sou "sparrow" background is actually correct, but it's very funny for a Japanese person to be talking about a Japanese 1-sou and saying "sparrow" when the Japanese 1-sou is a fucking peacock rather than the Chinese tile which is an actual sparrow.

There is no appreciable difference. Socialism is simply Communism dressed up a bit to fool people into believing that it'll somehow work this time. It can basically never work on anything other than small scale as it is fundamentally flawed as a concept, with each and every attempt destroying people's lives and tearing apart families.
Any attempt to convert a country to socialism will fail in the middle of the process along with the collapse of the country itself as inevitably as the useful idiots will take to twitter right after to blame Capitalism for the failure.

@Amplify You amuse me, but seeing as I live in Canada, and we have socialized healthcare, I can get my feelings checked for free. 
Not to mention electricity is cheap because we have hydro-electricity, which is owned by the state through a society.
Seriously, socialism can work for some things, if the whole populace wills it. =.= Communism instead gives all the power to one party and one individual who instead takes from its people to give it to its wealthy friends. There is no comparison.

This is what I mean about useful idiots, you present countries with a government run healthcare system and pretend that's 100% what socialism is with no strings attached, it's completely dishonest.
It's not even honest in itself because you're completely skimming over all the flaws of such a system in order to pretend it's free and nothing else. For example the doctors and other staff in the hospitals aren't working for free, it's not a charity organization or anything, you're still paying for it but you're doing it through increased taxes. You're even paying for the treatment of people who happily abuse the system, people like health tourists who visit the country to get expensive treatments done before going back, treatments that you're then paying for through taxes.
There is no ideal system without flaws, with Canada you're getting """"free"""" healthcare that comes out of your paycheck every month and which gets abused and worsened by a minority who don't give a shit, while Americans technically don't *have* to pay for health insurance but they get fucked financially if they don't and get injured or fall ill , while they get a decent level of healthcare if they do have said insurance and barely have to pay anything other than that (if anything at all).
For the record I'm English, we have a national health service too and it is starting to collapse under its own inefficiencies and the fact that all the immigrants (especially illegal ones) are abusing it for all it is worth to the point that it is quickly becoming unsustainable. Part and parcel of being in the EU, it means people from other EU countries who don't have free healthcare are coming over to get all the surgeries and treatment they want done and we are the ones who are left to pay for it, to say nothing of all the economic migrants who are coming over for all the freebies they can drain out of the country.

Second, my last post was written late at night, so obviously it's not as elaborate or well-thought as it could have, looking back. Obviously you are right that we are mostly in a democratic socialist system. I'm not going to grace you with a paragraph detailing and picking apart everything you've said, but I'll said that most of your points are valid (not necessarily correct, but valid).

I mean, Britain is not a pure democracy, so majority vote isn't king all of the time, but it should have been king for that one particular decision. As an American, I'm not sure if the solution is revolution (the French Revolution didn't exactly go so well), but it's something that should be considered to some extent.

If we don't get out on the 31st of October, well the 5th of November is following shortly thereafter.
