I don't know what drives the MC to sign up to this academy, and in chapter 14 it just revealed a tiny bit of it. It is just like watching Harry Potter getting into the magic school and hunted by the Voldemort army without knowing the story of his parents and his childhood hardship. Hey... it somehow has a similar premise lol.

The Epilogue just massively jumped the shark. Where the fuck is the build-up? Dude just suddenly got an assignment, then this one teacher he interacted with at one point is suddenly a big bad guy?

Where did the revenge plot come from? We had nothing showing anything of the MC's past, then suddenly it's all just piled on top of you, and you're expected to just accept it as fact.

Why is he suddenly being referred to as "lord"? Where did this secret society of world-enders come from? We didn't even get to know his cousins, and now they're here. Also, there's a new one?

Yo an LN enjoyer here. I am a huge fan of the light novel and pretty much will only read the manga because I enjoyed the source material. Anyways, from what I can gather this is a really bad manga adaptation. I've read a few chapters and can say that it doesn't really go according to what happens in the LN, skips a bunch of content, and struggles to maintain the original plot. However, considering how complex the source material is and how manga panels can't really convey what the author is trying to say (eg. there is a lot of description, internal dialogue, etc. in the LN), it makes sense as to why the manga would fall short. Anyways, if you slightly enjoyed the manga but were disappointed with the execution, I'd highly recommend the source material if you like light novels. If you're curious on my rating, I'd rate this manga a solid 5.7/10 and the light novel a 9.8/10.

The title lacks catalyst. There’s absolutely nothing for reader to grab onto. It feels like being thrown in 30-40 chapters deep in the title. Students go to school—-> there’s magic—-> more students—-> suspicious accident happen(potential catalyst that absolutely nobody is talking about later on)—-> more magic—-> more magic—-> EVEN MORE MAGIC—-> lunch break—-> I stopped reading because of how uninteresting this is.

First off the characters. No one of the students has any clear goal in going to school other than… finishing it…? Or surviving it ? None of the also seems to possess basic mathematical skills since no one is concerned that 80% of the admitting students won’t finish education(is everyone thinking they’re MC or what?) and death is one of the best outcomes if that happens. All of them are so generic and bland that it’d be easier to tell them apart if they had the same models but with notes on their faces saying “Character 1 to 6”. It’s almost impossible to recognize MC from this bunch and if not for the internal dialogue, I’d never guessed which one was it.

The teachers are unhinged. And not “sexy” unhinged, rather “threat to the society as a whole” unhinged. Basically, bunch of show-offs that don’t instruct anyone on how to proceed carefully. Instead they just say(in short) “do what I tell you and we will see how many will stay alive”. The teachers are, so far, the biggest threat to the students

The worst part is: none of it would matter if there was any story. There’s a school, magic, students, the titular “spellblades” and labyrinth. All of these components are just laying on the paper like dead fish on the fish market. Nobody has any ambition(aside from surviving) or dream, no aspiration or goal. MC SEEMS to have something going on, but after 4 chapters it’s still unclear if he’s even MC because THE WHOLE PAGE is being handed out to, a mandatory Japanese character in a ripp-off western setting of Harry Potter, crying her eyes out, which was supposed to be(I guess?) very emotional moment, but, again, there’s no context for anything happening.

For gods sake, I put more effort in writing this wall of text than reading this piece of crap. I don’t care if WN was massive success, it could’ve cured cancer and bring back to live everyone offed by Austrian painter. The manga is shit
