Speaking of her sister, how she could hijack Dara-san's body when she died years ago? Is this about the name of Dara-san literally older sis's name (kanji)? I check chapter 15 and only see her arms and legs got eaten.
Like someone else said, her name is literally a curse that binds he to basically be her older sister's slave.

It goes even deeper than that, Dara (formerly Koharu) wanted to forget her name because of what it meant, but she didnt fully get over it. She's been used, abused and conditioned to just be a tool for the older sister to do with as she pleases for all her life. Dara was still not over that mental fuckery her family did and thus ended up letting her sister take over once the name/curse got activated.

The siblings being so defiant and having had such a strong influence on Dara through their silly brand of worship tought her that its ok to be a bit selfish at times and reject stuff you dont like. Basically, they undid the mental damage her sister did and gave Dara the chance to fight back.

When Hinata says "im the older sister, its my duty to save my little brother" and offered herself to Dara without hesitation nor care for the repercussions, that showed Dara what a true big sister should be like. It was the final push that let her renounce her old name, accept her new one as "Dara" that isnt a title and fully reject the evil older sister. She fully recognized the failure the older sister is and embraced what the misogiya siblings gifted her.

From what I understand, her resentment and the remaining other half of the snek became her cocoon? chrysalis? for her to become the Dara san of today. It must have taken her for a long time to get out of that.

Thou, I think she isn't finished and needs a little bit more of a push to finish the process as proven by the previous chapter of her sister hijacking her body, there's a bit more stuff left before she fully turns to whatever she will become at the end.
Dara is pretty close to becoming a true god, i bet the misogiya siblings and their generation are whats going to give her the final push to cross that line.

The evil snake is on its way to accidentally being purified through its possession of that weird girl and being revered by her friends. Once Dara finds out what's actually in the other shrine with her missing arm she'll probably get a significant power boost. Then theres the monument Jurota left for her legs and the sheer amount of work they did for her as a priestess. Im betting that when she learns they did all that not just to deal with the yokai Yamatagi Madara but for her as the priestess she will claim all that strength from worship and properly ascent as a divine being.

The water in a pool is constantly flowing though. Ignoring all the bodies, it could be consider more pure than a creek or a stream.

Reminder there's also the ritual her sister prepared to make her a Shikigami before going with the rest of the other village to kill her. It ended up not going off fully, since she got killed before she could finish it, but going by the parts she managed to say while in control of Yamatagi Madara's body, it seems that enough was set up that the two would be bound together regardless, if tenuosly.

RN it seems whatever was left of ... Tsubaki? (The older sister) was sealed within the hole on that closed off section of the mountain, so something like that SHOULDN'T really happen again unless it breaks.

I'm constantly amazed at how much folk trivia concerning the supernatural has been integrated in this manga, and I bet I'm not even noticing a good portion of them. On a similar note, I find it interesting that some of these "rules" seem almost universal. Like "Don't say your name in front of x", "Don't invite x in your home" and "Making bets with x is a bad idea". Especially with the "Don't say your name" bit.

Just food for thought, I guess.

Her name becomes a curse that bound her existence to be a part of her older sister. Once she remembers it, the curse also awakens and allow the sister's lingering grudge to take over.
Also, Koharu/Dara-san ate her sisters arms and legs when she killed her, so there was technically part of Tsubaki left in her for the grudge curse to take effect.

As someone who looked ahead into the raws already... Yeah, its gunna get "worse" for the Snek! The energy you get from four pubescent, wild and crazy middle school girls isn't really conductive to world conquest, or whatever the snake wants to do! 😅
