Is it to hide the smut from the EU before the end of the year ? :kek:
What about the USA?

I already live in a state where the law requires age verification for internet pornography. Legal XXX sites either require proof of ID, or are unavailable in my area.

I haven't read the full text of the regulation in detail, but if hentai is considered porn, MangaDex could be in legal trouble for serving it to people in my state without checking IDs.

Maybe this is legal pandering for the USA: "It's not pornography, it's mature art."
...but will the judge buy it?

Personally, I agree that "pornography" is a more accurate classification than "mature".

Since the scope of this ID verification is for 'Adult contents' as a whole (be it for porn, politics, violent content or even medical matters), the distinction won't matter much. The moment MD receives the email from the UK/EU is the moment we're cooked. :wtf:

So, I looked through oneshots for the purpose of the contest before and I gotta say, yeah, Mature doesn't really convey it being R18 content.
Like, it comes over as way too tame, which made it harder to instantly disqualify them from the search.
The term should be more explicit.

Naming things always have issues, some people label Shokugeki no Souma as "food porn" and others as "porn food", who's right and who's wrong here?
