Yeah it felt like they wanted a resolution within the 13 episodes they had. Though I've not touched the LN I assume exists so it might not have.

The consistency of the art in the manga does convey emotion better at least so even if it's the same it might be more engrossing.

To be fair even manga adaptation sometimes get altered ending to have things end on a good point.

One I know of is the soldier girl one where in the RAW I found
