Dang... are all these women have a huge bust? Seems like magic isn't the only thing their gifted for.
For the expense of having no children (Due to the massive amount of power they have), their body goes to the point that a man with ED is once again with life.
@Sashimi095: In general witches don't live long in this era due to the bite + Church's hunting, when they said Scroll is old it's by the witch's standard.
Add on top of magic power make them live longer, and you get something like this (though the artist probably make them even younger on top so eh)
One of the witch who shows up later has lived for 200 years through 'eating' the lifespan of others.
I don't know if I'll count them as being 400+ years old properly though, given the nature of how they've survived until now.
Even Agatha, the only 'real' witch left from that time, hasn't actually lived for 400+ years, more like she live until her current age, 'stop', then resume.
Weren't at least the original carriers (Pasha, Alethea, Celine) awake all this time? Other witches who used human bodies were in hibernation most of the time and probably don't count, but those three leaders are actually hundreds of years old.
That's exactly the point. Everyone expects merchants to be a very specific way. If that's the case, they lose half of their advantage (the merchants). Putting you off your game, controlling the 'pace' of discussions, destroying expectations, that's how they can talk their way around you in circles and get a better advantage for themselves in the deal.
Also DAT ASS and those melons. I have a feeling that there's very few people she can't talk into signing over their purses.
This is true for how our world's society evolved, yes. Yet, my point does still stand - sexuality has been an enormous contributor to many deals throughout our history. There are many lines of clothing strategically crafted for sex appeal specifically to gain advantage over prospective clients.
It's also best not to think of another world in terms of our 'era', simply because we lack crucial information to say if they're actually anything alike beyond things like 'lack of toilets' and such. Your argument looks constructed as if you're trying to compare the two on a 1:1 basis, which is not likely to hold up.
@Kayriel
An increasingly strong body of statistical evidence is pretty clear that unless you are selling sex itself, sex does not actually increase sales. Saying that sex has been a contributor to many deals throughout history is usually a textbook example of survivorship bias. Because people keep trying it, anyone can find examples where it was successful. But that totally overlooks all the examples of when it was not successful. By the same logic, you could say that beards are an important factor in sales, because of the number of important deals were made that had beards involved.
I can understand about the standard of age at that time but
I'm not sure if I recall correctly but, at some point in the webnovel it was mentioned how Scroll was depicted through description that she was around the late thirties or early forties with descriptions of being a mature beauty that would look great in teacher attire. I've always imagined them to be like that when I was reading the webnovel. But yeah I think the artist just made them young cause "witches" "Magic" or to cater to men more.
About those other witches, I can't wait to see the other Taquila witches in their blob form and their original forms in the Dream World.
