Kazaki himself actually lied the fact that he's still in a company when he's actually an unemployed because once you betray the expectations society has upon you in Japan, you'll be basically frowned upon and shunned. Also that is also the case when his friends invited him to drink, because Japanese people have a hard time refusing these events, it's more polite to accept it seems since they're in a premise that Kaizaki is doing fine, also they're celebrating the fact of his friend's promotion. It's just basically Japan's standards that really weighs Kaizaki down, very much evidenced by what he states that he should have a stable job, be married by 25, etc. etc.
