Especially with how much Kaizaki supported others during his time in ReLife, it really makes the most sense for him to work there :) And he gets to interact with everyone -^^-
I hope he somehow reconnects with them :( Looking at how they don't recognize him.. is just so heartbreaking T_T

Wait, wasn't he supposed to remember them? Why did he act like he didn't know who they were?
The ones who don't remember are the highschoolers group.
They are affected by some sort of drug that makes them forget about Kaizaki.

And then, Kaizaki is under the influence to forget about just one single person. And just one.

No it's Arata's drugs that affects their memories. That's why the high school students who interacted with him don't remember

Well, yes.
But Kaizaki is also under the influence of another of those drugs. But the effect was that he can't recall the memories related to just a person.

The whole point is that he remembers them all but chose to act like he doesn't.
(he froze the moment he saw who it was that bumped into him after all)

woo 2 years old, this really isnt for you, but a continuation for future readers!

Not a drug, a virus. At the start, part of the thing was each pill type was made for a specific person, the working theory is that the virus is tailored to that person and infects those around them. If that person is away from those targets for a while (given the time frame probably like a month apart) it starts destroying the memory of said person.

To be fair, I dont like it being called a virus, I'm not well versed in biology to think of another thing. But I think its a type of cell that infects the people around them, these cells combine with memories of the person infecting them. Overtime, those cells die, unless "topped up" by the person infecting them. Given enough time apart, those cells die, and thus you lose your memories. This would go in tandem with... however else they are wiping things away, like pictures and such that other people own.

Tbh, its one of those situations where you try to not think about the finer details.

Well, rare to see people who actually try to reason a certain trope in fictional stories.
Any theorizing is always welcome here.

However, as far as I know, there has been no confirmation on what the pill was supposed to be so we might need to add that's all these are speculations.
The pill is only shown as a pill through out the series. Unless there's a page somewhere saying that the components consist of viruses, it's not going to be clear.
Also, memories are not stored as a single place, single instance but as the connections between certain sensations (associations between them, so to speak) so to be so precisely targeting certain memories while leaving others out is still not very easy to do with our technologies (100% precision is very hard, especially when it's about a person since the association points are numerous).

Besides, the discussion was on who was affected by what, not what the substance was so naturally, I did not select my words carefully there.
Of course, I'm no expert either, and my knowledge on the matter is somewhat outdated too (stopped looking up these stuff back in 2016-2018).

Yup there was a page calling it a virus, I will go find it!

The scientist dude was telling Ryo and An about it, cause they went to ask about the subjects keeping their memory, but scientist guy was like "probably not" then on top of that, later mentioned to one the managers above them that due to BOTH being there, its even more likely it will make everyone forget, since they are getting double infected by 2 different people.

------

Edit!
Can't find first time it was mentioned, but it is brought up again in Chapter 203, when Ryo eavesdrops on the manager and the scientist guy discussing if they can retain their memories.

He describes how the drugs works, that both subjects and the support division that use the pills get a virus that destroys memories.

I see what you mean now.
I have always read that part as a dumbed down version of how the drug works (a metaphor of sort to explain it, so to speak), so I ended up having a different understanding from you there.
