I don't even know what to think about this manga. Sometimes it really enjoyable, serious and somewhat realistic in terms of characters interaction, but right after that you got such "serious" chapters with unbelievable forced and absolutely unreasonable turns and motives that ruin the whole impression. What is this bullshit: "she should fall in love with you"? Wut? It so cringe-worthy, it's impossible to take it seriously after that. And it's supposed to be government scientific organisation btw. It would be ok for the comedy parts of the manga, but here we have like serious, dramatic chapter.

All in all Relife experiment with Hishiro is exceptionally dumb idea. She is not NEET, she is adult with communication disorder and needs help of the therapist. How in the world they wanted to help her by putting her not only in high school, but in class with bullied kid? Highschool with all these cliques, social groups, unstable teens in their rebellious phase is the definitely very good place for people with comm.disorder, yeah. And wtf with this competition between branches? Are they selling goods or helping people? Yeah, who cares about subjects, rush B!

The Relife corporate stuff is wholly consistent with the shitty corporate environment situation shown in Kaizaki's flashbacks. And they're not an actual government department/organisation, but a private company that has a government contract.

Don’t know what’s unrealistic about their motivations, competition is everywhere even in “altruistic” organizations.

The higher ups are your typical shitty management who are out of touch with can and needs to be done.

And LMAO believing they’re doing this solely to help people

@CookieMonster I thought the same thing, but a few chapters later (ch115) it's revealed that the real objective of relife is to gather data on how a subject reacts to the experiment, not rehabilitate them, which means that probably the higher-ups just tried manufacturing a situation where they could get a lot of different events (which gives more data), the reason they wanted a happy ending is probably because it helps to stand out among the competition (the support team really just wanted to help people tho).

the government commissioning strange experiments isn't a crazy or bad idea, many inventions came from seemingly useless experiments, like how graphane (a noble prize winning invention) came from an experiment that used electromagnets to levitate frogs, maybe this fictional world is a bit more technologically advanced they ours (they have youth pills after all ) because of they invest in experiments like those.

if you want to know a bit more about why useless experiments aren't really useless I recommend this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDU3i2VWdTQ

Rereading this manga, no, this kind of corporate bullshit is anything but unusual.

Sure they take it way too far with the "fall in love" stuff, but shitty upper management only seeing the world from the top of an .xls table exists. They are sadly way too common. They just want to see the nice numbers they want in the right case. And if the numbers aren't nice, it's time to scold the subordinates.

Yeah honestly you see the higher ups only care about the statistics and they think they'll get the best results if they put them in an extreme environment. While some may do change for the better, others, especially Hishiro who doesn't know a single thing about interactions won't know how to react to it. And the falling in love, since love is such a strong emotion, they think statistic wise, it'll be the best end goal since it means that she achieved in gaining her feelings. Honestly they don't care about Hishiro themselves but just how it'll look good for their branch... That's how society is sadly..
And why characters such as Yoake and An really save this company's face because they're truly fulfilling their roles as the support division to help their subjects.
