This was cute! I have a soft spot for historical settings anyway, but I think it has more merits than that alone. It's not rave-worthy, but I liked it. It had heart. No drama gets dragged out too long, and every now and then Reiichirou's actions and expressions were beautifully melancholic. The main character's emotions were a little bit flat in comparison, but that made the skillful portrayal of longing from the male lead all the more interesting. (And the manga itself just cheerfully skips right over the forbidden love trope, which was a pleasant surprise. They never have to fight for anyone to approve of them.)
