I am glad the situation with this jealous fiend was resolved, but I will never understand the mentality of "I will rather let her bully me than to worry the man who does so much for me". Girl, as we all knew he found it eventually and dealt with her appropriately. You could have saved yourself a lot of stress and humiliation if only you were honest at the beginning.

It's most likely a case of low self-esteem. Understandable after all that bullying she went through

I find the trope of the FMC being too incompetent to solve any of her problems, and having to wait for the MMC to solve them for her, rather tiresome. I get there's something romantic about a partner swooping in and making your life better, but there's a limit to that before it feels obnoxiously one-sided -- and it doesn't help that basically every romance these days has the FMC be a incompetent dullard who walks into every dangerous situation they can, with zero self-preservation skills.

This Eliza has some style. She could've gone for a cheap shot when Rosalie's back was turned, but opted for these dramatic theatrics and actually intended to shank her rival with a broken shard like a proper psycho.
Quite an expressive chapter overall, especially the disheveled-looking characters in these bullying scenes made for a nice dynamic effect.

Rufus didn't do it too well, either. He's currently the second best swordsmanship student in the academy, yet he pretty much purposefully wounded his hand by grasping the sharp part of the shard. He would have had a dozen safer ways he has probably trained for before, but instead he did this. This isn't even instinct-driven behavior, to grab what would be the blade of a knife. The one and only positive factor is that seeing Rufus bleeding would shock Eliza, but it's hardly worth it. He needs his hand for matches, so healing it is time away from practice, but it could also get infected.

My thought is that if approximately most FMCs in the genre/subgenre are like this then it starts feeling like the wish fulfillment fantasy has really unreasonable conditions.

Like instead of "hot guy falls in love with MC and fixes all her problems" it feels like, "hot guy falls in love with MC because she's so endlessly forgiving and self-sacrificing.

Feels less like a fun fantasy and more like a lesson on virtue that I do not agree with.
