No, his Luck was always destined to be shared with whoever would become his wife. The game was just meant to facilitate that happening and securing the heroine's spot as his future spouse.

It wasn't fully automated, she could create events and change rules and such on the fly. So it was more so that it was only partially automated. Overall though, it was still tied to her magic so if she loses power then the app should die down too. Realistically though, Zepa shouldn't have lost though. The entire thing was tied directly to Asunaro's feelings, there's no reason why he should've been able to fake those feelings (to a magic app) let alone weaponize them at the end. Also it makes no sense that another heroine could be added when it was specifically made to be a game for him and for his crushes at the time and no one else. What if he got a crush on someone else during the time this whole thing took place? Or he keeps crushing because he realizes he can just have an infinite harem. It's one of those things you'd easily figure out is problematic from just thinking about it a bit. It's a rushed ending, clearly, but it's what we got.

My head canon is that Zepa faked this last chapter. She faked being defeated and cancelled everything just to get Asunaro and the girls the best ending.

That'd be a great twist, honestly.

Ngl it was great to see a harem mc finally realizing his faults and actually doing something about them, for such a short manga it was actually quite good so I'm glad it finally got fully translated(I've been following this since the first chapter was translated, it was quite a long time ago)

I feel like part of my own thoughts and interpretation of this rather rushed ending is different than others here and wanted to comment about it for my own enjoyment

the game (you just lost ;3) , as I interpret, was moving forward independent of Zepafur, she could influence and manipulate it, steering it into her preferred direction but not in full control it seems

I guess the game was the vehicle she fueled with her magic all to fulfill the harem dream for Asunaro. More than anything it was probably controlled by his desires and feelings but she could warp the interpretation and effects of those feelings with y'know, the whole demon magic thing

I feel this way Zep's defeat makes more sense, before everything Asunaro didn't know all the details, just that something was off. Through the conversation at the end he was made aware of the game and the parts of it. The girls used vague leading language to make him think something probably along the lines of

"Wow, this demon is doing all this for my happiness she must love me but is too tsundere to be honest"

This would influence him, and by extension the game, to consider her a viable heroine. After that Zep went off the rails breaking the illusion that she was Tsundere or something like that, going on her whole villian monologue and all that.

He seems to have had trouble fully understanding the game throughout this sequence with all the absurdities and lies and such. I think that confusion led to the game ending the way it did. now that he had already recognized and convinced himself that she was a heroine, she was under it's rules and the game could kill her. now that he fully hated her and understood her character, the game killed her and by extension itself as she was the fuel for the 'machine' the game was and without her magic it couldn't sustain itself.

I'm obviously I'm reading a little too into it and it's not that deep but it's fun for me to do so. It probably didn't have this much thought put into it lol.

I would have much prefer an ending where all the girls go their own ways as that would've felt more natural. but the open harem ending we got is serviceable enough, the interesting part was the game and characters so the ending for this manga isn't too important for me.

Ok two massive flaws here.
One wasn't his "luck" their luck being shifted to him and the winner?
and two how is the game over? She wasn't in control, she set it up and it was then automated. Her dying shouldn't end it. She could influence it, but that it killed her shows its part of a system outside just her. It should still be active, and just be no longer receiving updates (which would leave the current challenge active).
One possible misconception here:

Why would she ever tell the truth?

If you look at the ending - it's exactly what she promised it would be.
So Occam's razor says that (if not from the start, then at least after game four) she decided to change tack and went for a solution where they instead got to "win" over her and could then go after him due to the "Suspension Bridge Effect".

But an alternate take is that she actually did make it a dating game for him. The entire story up until he got to play was just setup, where the girls would get Stockholm Syndromed to like him a little and he would get some life lessons.
Only it was one of those dull visual novels (nearly kinetic) where he only gets to read along - until the final scenes in "Hell" (actually more like Star Trek Holodeck) when he got to say some things that sounded good (and also say goodbye to fantasy girls) - opening up both him and the girls for possible real life relationships with each others.

That's quite the word salad, lots of buzz words, making it a pain to find your points and needlessly confusing. It sounds like you think she let them win and kill her, as it's the simplest solution. Which makes very little sense as why would she do that.
Your alt take that this was her plan to get all of them to like him from stockholm syndrome, which is a rather wild take, but sure could work, if we assume she actually cared to help him and everything went to her plan.
As for why ever tell the truth, to gain trust, mixing the truth in with lies is how you tell lies and get them believed. There are portions she has no reason to lie on, and identifying those was a major focus of the series and was how they played her. Those portions they relied on and used against her are the most trust worthy parts. So yes I am going to put some trust in those parts.

Alas Manga (and Japanese, both the people and the language) is a lot about reading between the lines and fakeouts.

And people lie in real life too, so many Japanese storytellers will not shy away from having either unreliable narrators or just have people outright lie in their stories about things that are core.
(And even if some stories have the liar come out and explicitly spell out whatever trickery they played - some stories will not.)

But it's your choice - either you can go with your call and have the story end a wrangled illogical mess.
Or you can assume that she did lie - and when "things were used against her" - she faked it.
(It's still her game from the start to the end, the only reason we have to believe she wasn't in total control is that she said so. If she lied and was actually in total control all the time.. then of course she would lie about it to keep them hoping and fighting against her, so they can Stockholm syndrome together in the face of adversity and even start liking the boy a little despite him being a cause of their problems.)

This was great overall and I really liked this ending.. not too long not too short, open but yet somehow conslusive. The only thing that might have made it slightly better is if there was a plot twist and Zepafur somehow survived and ended up bound to the harem as well.. but then her getting her just deserts kinda feels right for the slightly darker tone of this comedic harem.
