I can't help but feel like this manga would actually be wholesome if Kazuya would just shut the fuck up once in awhile.

That's what bothers me with it actually - I can see a genuinely good manga just under the surface - unfortunately the author just stretches it out ad infinitum, and the author insists on putting every random thought that passes through Kazuya's head on the page.

I can related to the character in the sense that my brain constantly refuses to shut the fuck up - but if I was reading a manga about my life, it'd be better off if like 90% of my internal narration wasn't written for all to see.

You and me both. The movie arc really showed me that this series COULD be good. This series has the story of the lowest of the lowest pieces of crap slowly becoming better and learning - the issue of course being that every time you'd expect to see growth the author says lol sike and puts you back down. The "flow" of the story - of a human being learning and growing from their experiences - is interrupted in favor of nonsense, thus why this series is trash.

I'd love to see this same series cut down and rehashed into a good one, because there's genuinely good content sprinkled throughout.
