@Totalhypocrite It is true that automation or computerization generally lowered the amount of skill needed to do something, but it also maintained or even exceeded past techniques that required much more manual skill put in.

The magic tools put in place so far seem to just made it easier to cast low level abilities, but does nothing replicate the power of mid to high tier magic.

@StandardInfantry My own explanation so far is that, with the absence of demons, high tier magics are simply unnecesary and the lower ones are replaceable through tools. If only the author had gone the same route xD.
The only way the story could work as of now is if after the demons got killed off, the high tier mages decided to control the world by limiting knowledge to their own small circles. We didn't really get a picture of how spread magic knowledge was in the past it may have been limited even at the time. My issue with this is that we have someone who literally lived through that in FMC and she never mentioned forging of history or books or being burnt or somesuch.

@Standardinfantry, in agreement that automation or computerisation does cut back on the required manual skill, and also that it does require a higher level of skill in design, however what I was referring to in real life examples was cases where the information is then lost (in cases of staff retirement etc), find this topic interesting if I’m honest since the lifespan of data isn’t infinite (sorry for going off topic) :D

In this case there’s no need for them to learn anything beyond the point and click of the new tools

@Invader_Retro Pretty sure the name of the spell is Wind Edge not Effigy unless they changed it in tankobon and you're using that one. Dunno about the LN/WN because i don't read it.

Honestly if the world building doesn't get fixed in like the next 2 chapters (someone made sure that high tier magic was restricted, new mages only learn how to use magic tools and low tier magics) then I am outta.

Things where high tier magic can be used day to day: mining, healing, forestry, keeping other countries in check (if a high tier spell is even comparable to a surface missile than that's a detergent from other countries to invade), not to mention apparently there are beasts (?) in this world as well surely you need firepower to kill those.

Surely assaulting one of the participants in a agreed upon duel break some sort of law there...

@StandardInfantry : The tools would hinder growth if everyone starts out by using them, and without wars the complicated techniques would slowly be lost due to the people who are familiar with them retiring/dying off and the replacements not being as good as the last generation, over 2 centuries that is allot of generations for the drop in skill to accumulate.
Plus no wars means no need for combat healers who are the ones who would be specialized in some types of wounds, while other medics and healers would be focused on disease and long term illnesses as opposed to wounds.

@Totalhypocrite : ya loss of information has been going on for years, for some fields of work (like blacksmithing) massive amounts of knowledge has been lost. Part of it is also specialists keeping secret techniques and not writing stuff down, eventually the master-student chain of succession breaks and the technique is lost unless someone else discovers it.

Lilith is a waifu.
The next arc will be insufferable without her during the earlier part.
Instead we'll get saddled with generic "genius" tsundere.

@vasil94 My explanation: avoid apocalypse. Once a common threat is eliminated, what do we have? Fights for dominance. Imagine that in our world only a certain group of people can create and use the nuclear bombs, and only them, and these people are fairly intelligent. What do you think they'll do? Eliminate anyone wanting to freely use the bomb and erase the method to create such bomb. That's the case with magic. One of the novels I read in the past had such a reason. (Though a shame the novel wasn't very good. I don't even remember the name)

Remember those Chakra Ninja Tools used in Boruto: Next Generation? Same deal, if they are 200 years later and have shown a big dependence on it. Darn... they are screwed when a Cheater comes in.
